Advantages of Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors
Vertical reciprocating conveyors are discontinuous conveyors that require the transfer of goods onto a platform or carrier which is then elevated by hydraulic or mechanical means to a higher level where the goods are again transferred from the platform to the new level.
Vertical reciprocating conveyors offer the advantage over alternative solutions such as inclined power belts and spiral conveyors because they require a much smaller floor space. Two conveyors can even be used to bridge a busy or congested area of a facility. They also have the advantage of transferring goods in an upright position, which is essential when goods must be placed flat, or are fragile or unstable.
Vertical reciprocating elevators also present advantages over forklifts and human labor. They are safer than these alternatives and do not require any special training.
Maintenance and operation are also more cost-effective than with forklifts or traditional elevators, ascertain loads may be too large or bulky for forklifts.
